Here's a photo from a little over a month ago showing what the sierra above Ixtapa looks like on a clear day: a stark contrast to the first photo. Here you can see the mountains that are lost in the haze in the first photo. The double-hump mountain (called "Las Tetas" or "Los Chichis" locally) is a landmark used by fishermen to find their way back to our port. We've had several fishermen get lost when these mountains and sometimes the entire coastline are not visible from 15 miles or so out at sea due to the smoke during this season.
