I don't see how you missed the crowds that showed up for the 3-day weekend last week in observance of Benito Juárez's birthday. According to the hotel associations they had an average occupation of 75% in both Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa. Now if you're eating lunch at noon and dinner at 7 p.m. then yes, you may be missing the crowds and mostly only be eating with other folks from the USA and Canada because we eat our main meal, la comida, around 3 p.m. and a very light dinner, la cena, around 9 or 10 p.m. It sure seemed crowded here in downtown Zihuatanejo.

Foreign tourism is also supposedly up around 10% from last year for the first two months of this year, though locally it was initially reported that we received about 5% less tourism this Christmas season than last year when many people came here instead of Cancún and the coast of Quintana Roo due to the hurricane damage there.

The rumors about me allegedly scaring off tourism for posting here about local problems are simply the product of damaged brains and suffering egos. ;~)
