Just returned from an inspection trip to the Yellow Monster. Almost finished! We're going to miss our annual visits to Bungalows Pacificos, but we'll be staying just down the road, so we'll be able to maintain our friendship with Anita. Took a sidetrip to Patzcuaro and Morelia. Very enjoyable. Hope to do this again and for longer next time. As usual, we enjoyed some great meals: tuna with curry and wrapped in bacon at La Sirena Gorda, the wonderful porkchop at Casa Vieja, a fish filet stuffed with shrimp and octopus at Daniel's and another great meal at La Gula. Had an excellent breakfast on Plaza Kioto at "100% Y,". Don't let the awkward name keep you from eating there. This trip's restaurant discovery: " De Donde Eres?" on Calle Adelita, a couple of doors down from La Casa Cafe. This new place is owned and operated by a charming young Italian woman and her equally friendly Fijian husband, both of whom speak excellent English. I had a Sri Lankan shrimp curry, served with a side of rice and a cucumber salad. This was preceded by a small bowl of a mysterious, pungent vegetable puree served with crackers. To drink: a Negra Modelo and a bottle of water. Total price: 100.00 pesos. Highly recommended!
Why is it that my trip reports are mostly about food? Must look in the mirror. Oh Yeah.....
